STRANGER DANGER delves into the mystery of Etan Patz, the first “milk carton kid,” whose disappearance sparked the Stranger Danger Panic that terrifies us to this day.
For over 30 years, Etan’s cold case haunted New York City — that was until 2014, when an emotionally unstable man named Pedro Hernandez confessed to the crime after a police interrogation riddled with misconduct. Despite claims by detectives, psychiatrists, and even the FBI that Hernandez falsely confessed, he was convicted after two sensational trials, and sentenced to life in prison.
As Hernandez’s lawyers prepare his final appeal, a notorious pedophile named Jose Ramos (whom many believe is Etan’s real killer), has been released from jail — setting up a race against time to right the wrongs of the past before it’s too late.
